The Process Behind Nutmeg
1. Harvest
Usually nutmeg can be harvested at the age of 7 - 9 months starting from flowers, with the markings of the nutmeg to be harvested are flat yellow and there are clear cleavage marks on the nutmeg and it will be even better if the nutmeg is slightly broken (starts to crack) when it was harvested.
2. Separation Process
In this process, the farmers separate the seeds from the fruit, it must be do it by carefully to keep the quality of the seeds
3. Drying Process
Avoid drying when the sun is hot (ideal temperature should be 45C), drying until the moisture content reaches 10% or more for 9 days. Nutmeg must be turned 5 - 10 times.
4. Sorting
The seeds must be sorted to separate the quality, it must be dry, shiny, clean, and not crack.
After all, the seeds are ready to sell.
